The Tour May 16th, 2015
New for this year…The Tour will be an event unto itself! We have found that many entrants of the Concours would like to be involved in The Tour but want to keep their automobiles in pristine condition for the big event on Sunday. Going on a tour all day, the day before, is just too much. Now with The Tour being moved to May, at the very beginning of the concours season, more participants will be able to join in the fun.
The Tour offers an exciting day of driving, wine tasting, lunch and, of course, the sharing of fabulous automobiles. Cars that run the spectrum from vintage to exotic will partake in this breathtaking tour of the historic Sierra Foothills and the beautiful Amador Wine Country.
The Tour day will begin with continental breakfast and registration in the town of Folsom. Participants will have an opportunity to stroll the sidewalks along the Sutter Street Historic District, the heart of this charming town. Leaving Folsom the participants will enjoy a thirty-five mile drive through the Sierra Nevada Foothills and meander along scenic back roads in some of California’s most picturesque rural settings.
Just outside of Ione, participants will enjoy a private tour with unequaled access to some of the most spectacular World War II Warbirds currently under restoration and preparation for the Reno Air Races at Sanders Aeronautics. While here a variety of refreshments will be served.
Upon leaving Ione participants will tour the lush Shenandoah Valley, home to a host of award-winning wineries. Participants will wind their way along country roads of oak studded hillsides and the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains.
After a fifteen mile drive tour takers will arrive at the beautiful Bella Piazza Winery where lunch will be served al fresco. This truly Tuscan winery offers an opportunity to experience and feel the romance of wine making. Participants will enjoy gourmet food and wine while dining on the plaza patio surrounded with breath taking views of rolling hills and vineyards.
After lunch, participants are free to explore the area at their leisure. Visiting the wineries of Amador County is a delight; most are small family operations where unpretentious hospitality is the norm. Please visit www.amadorwine.com for more information.
The Tour is open to any classic, vintage or exotic motor car owner who would like to enjoy a day of driving approximately 80-100 miles. As we finalize details we will have an online sign-up for all who want to participate.
